The Silver Oak 2019 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is comprised of 95.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Cabernet Franc, 1.9% Merlot and 0.4% Petit Verdot.
The wine has notes of red cherry, raspberry, blackberry, iris, vanilla and clove.
It's described as a compelling, brooding, muscular rendition of Cabernet from Alexander Valley with gorgeous boysenberry notes, black currants, and rose petals laced with vanillin notes and toasty oak.
The wine is medium to full-bodied with black currants, ripe blackberry and black cherry notes framed by velvety tannins laced with vanillin, with toasty oak spices lending sweetness balanced by grippy acidity, and a long complex finish revealing umami, garrigue, and crushed slatestone.
After blending in early 2020, it was transferred to American oak barrels from their cooperage, The Oak, where it aged for 24 months.
The wine received 95 points from Decanter.
Silver Oak has been producing Cabernet Sauvignon exclusively since 1972, and was recommended as the best overall bottle in a 2023 guide to the best Cabernet Sauvignons.
